The View of Psychosocial Rehabilitation among Social Workers Who are Working at the Community Welfare Centers in Pusan

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective : To inquire the view of psychosocial rehabilitation among social workers who are working at the community welfare centers in Pusan for chronic mental patients and to develop the effective community-based support programs.
Method : Among the 37 community welfare centers of Pusan, 56 social workers were responded to the questionnaires on psychosocial rehabilitation for chronic mental patients and their families.
Results : Most respondents realized the needs of psychosocial rehabilitation programs and showed the eagerness to develop them in their centers. Their preferred programs are home visiting service, education for patients and families, and mental health lectures for community residents. The major obstacles to develop psychosocial rehabilitation in their centers are a lack of resources(personnel, money, time) and specific knowledge about psychosocial rehabilitation.
Conclusion : In order to provide psychosocial rehabilitation programs for the chronic mental patients and their families at the community welfare center, thorough prepatation is necessary on the ares like needs assessment, clinical training, clinic training, cooperation with a different setting, and governmental budget allocation.
